Math Curriculum
Math in my classroom changes from year to year depending on what my students know and remember from previous years and where they are grade-level wise. There have been times with math when I have had students doing 6th grade math in fifth grade, or doing 4th grade math, depending on their needs. Sometimes students are even working at a higher level than 6th grade math. In each case, the resources that I'm using are adjusted. With math, ultimately, the goal is for students to develop strong mathematical skills that align with the Common Core State Standards, while helping them to enjoy math. That way they will be better prepared for future math classes. With math, every year really "piggy backs" on the previous year so it's very important that students "get" as many concepts as possible at their grade-level so that they can transition to the next grade level with the appropriate math skills. We use McGraw-Hill Reveal Math as our math curriculum.
